Filipino actors are among the best in the world, but many have left the country in search for advanced training abroad.
Recognizing the deep hunger of the Filipino actor to continue to hone his craft and to bring acting to a higher, more challenging, and more fulfilling vista of creativity, Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) partners with The Stella Adler Studio of Acting to bring one of the most renowned acting studios in New York and Los Angeles closer to aspiring Filipino actors in Metro Manila.
This November, PETA hosts an intensive Voice, Text and Scene Study Advanced Class for Professional Actors to be conducted by Andrew Wade and Don Williams of The Stella Adler Studio of Acting. This Advanced Class for Professional Actors aims to equip and edify the Filipino actor with skills in Voice, Text and Scene Study.
The Stella Adler Studio of Acting of New York (and its West Coast branch, the Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles) is known for creating an environment that nurtures theater artists who value humanity—their own and others’—as their first priority while providing art and education to the greater community. Stella Adler’s holistic approach strengthens and develops the actor’s intellect, body, voice, spirit, and imagination.
Among the actors who studied at The Stella Adler Studio of Acting are James Coburn, Kevin Costner, Melanie Griffith, Harvey Keitel, Jerome Robbins, Diana Ross, Anthony Quinn, Martin Sheen, and John Ritter.
Stella Adler believes that “Growth as an actor and growth as a human being are synonymous.” Adler’s philosophy has served as a guiding light to many prominent actors in the business today.
The actor’s artistic impulse—often cultivated and nurtured by a strong teacher or school—provides the fuel that propels him or her to work, which attracts agents, casting directors, producers, and, ultimately, audience.
