The PETA Phinma Theater
At the heart of the PETA Theater Center is a “Black Box” performance space known as the PETA PHINMA Theater. It is a flexible and intentionally skewed box theater that offers numerous stage and audience arrangements reflecting PETA’s exploratory and nonconventional spirit. It may be an Arena, an End Stage, or Thrust Stage using various platforms, thrusts, ramps and extensions as imagined or required by each production. The audience may be seated in varying arrangements given movable yet comfortable seats on the ground floor orchestra and several rows of seats along a three-sided balcony on the second floor. There are multifunctional catwalks above, topped by an acoustic ceiling and movable reflectors. The theater is capped by an ingenious roofing system that is rated for rain, heat and noise.
The PETA-PHINMA Theater is clad in a customized “PETA Red” glow. The space allows the user a smooth floor of movement. There are ample entrances and exit doors that connect the lobby, theater and backstage. Technicians, designers, and artists will appreciate access and freedom of movement between service panels, control areas and attachment points for lights, sound, decor, and even personnel through the ten catwalks above at various elevations. Last but not the least, this theater is meant to be safe and sound with multiple fire and safety systems installed and managed by a dedicated staff.

The PETA Multipurpose Hall
This exhibition hall immediately establishes the interior design language that resonates throughout the building. It is an extremely flexible hall that features movable wall and floor mounted panels, a suspended steel grid on a high ceiling for equipment, decor, drapes, and art pieces. It is contiguous to the reception lobby and also serves as a spillover area for theater audiences and guests. To further add to the openness and safety of the building, large sliding glass doors connect to a side driveway, which can be used alfresco. This exhibition hall is a place to explore and exercise one’s imagination and can be used for social gatherings, rehearsals, performances, workshops, seminars, conferences, and many other functions.

The Lino Brocka Hall
This revered and special hall was dedicated by Jose L. Mari Chan in memory of the national Artist Lino Brocka. It is found at the intersection of the building, connecting the theater audience with the library and office goers as well as visitors to the studio and upper floors. It is an intimate multi functional space for special gatherings, exhibits, workshops, rehearsals, and performances. It spills out into an exterior balcony overlooking the open street. In many ways, it drew inspiration from Lino Brocka’s life and work, integrating theater and film with compelling realities out there, of people and society.
The PETA Studios
These creative learning spaces are adjacent to the catwalk levels of the theater. Bright and refreshing, the studio areas have an overhead steel grid for attaching or hanging equipment, acoustic tiles, and decor. The two studios are separated by a folding divider. Once opened, the studios unite to form a hall for larger seminars and workshops, rehearsals, conferences, exhibits, audiovisual presentations, performances, etc. The wooden floor is insulated for sound dampening and layered for shock absorption making it ideal for dance and movement. These rooms may be well lit by sunshine and/or an ample set of energy-saving lights or darkened by roller blackout window shades.
Before one can enter these rooms, people have to observe an Asian tradition of removing one’s shoes as a protection for the floor and as a gesture of reverence to the sacred creative spaces.
